$8 Massages

Last night, my roomies and I ventured in to the city for a New Year's Eve party thrown by one of our friends. We went to an amazing all American dinner that consisted of a burger, fries and a shake and then had about 2 hours to kill before the party. We left dinner and were walking down the street looking for a Starbucks, when Kelley saw a massage parlor. It looked alright and the price was good. After much discussion, we decided we had time for the 70 minute massage.
First off, nobody in the whole place speaks English. So it was hard enough to try and ask simple questions. We got upstairs and into our room and in came our three massuers, one woman and two men. They kind of looked at us and then one of the boys motioned at our clothes and I think he said something about taking them off. The three of us looked at each other and started laughing. I think they got the point and brought us blue and white loose fitting pajamas to wear instead. That was a close one.
During the massage, I was incredibly tense. I had one of the guys and he kept massaging so hard it hurt. I would tense up, and this would only cause him to massage harder. It was a good massage and at times funny and entertaining. It only cost about $8 so it was worth it. However, because I kept tensing up last night today I am incredibly sore all along my back. In fact, at the base of my back it hurts to touch. So, word to the wise, learn how to say "too hard," "that hurts" or "lighter please" before going into a massage parlor that doesn't speak your language.
